Dr. Jay typically performs facelift surgery under deep sedation and local tumescent anesthesia. He will make incisions inside the hairline at the temple, in front of the ear, then around the earlobe and behind the ear, ending at the hairline. Excess skin is removed and sagging muscles and connective tissues are tightened. In some cases, fatty deposits are removed from beneath the chin and neck. Incisions are closed by small absorbable sutures.

The pain is usually only moderate and patients hardly ever complain of severe pain. The pain usually subsides an 2-4 days.

Dr. Jay Appurao is specially trained in the most recent modifications of this procedure called QUICK LIFT®, pioneered by Dr. Dominic Brandy and nationally recognized as one of the most effective forms of this surgery, with least complications and excellent results! Dr. Jay is the only surgeon who has the FRANCHISE to do this procedure in Louisiana. Feel free to browse

  • Walk in-walk out procedure
  • Takes about 2.5-3 hours
  • Done entirely under local anesthesia and sedation
  • Tiny sutures will dissolve
  • Significantly less complications
  • Results last many years
  • Often combined with other facial cosmetic procedures, such as neck lift, Forehead or Brow lift and Cheek or Chin Implants

The fact that people usually tend to show the first signs of aging in their necks often leads them to consider a lower facelift or a necklift. This involves tightening the skin and muscles in the neck and jawline. Liposuction alone may help the problem if significant fat is present beneath the chin. For conditions that include sagging tissues, a lift is also needed.

The procedure usually begins with liposuction in the neck and jowl regions. Then, operating through incisions around the ear and behind the chin, the surgeon lifts and tightens the neck muscle (Submentoplasty) to rejuvenate the neck contour. Any excess skin is removed from around the ear. The result is a smoother and tighter neck and jawline. Neck lift surgery is typically performed as an outpatient basis under I.V. sedation and local anesthesia. Liposuction is often performed simultaneously to enhance the outcome. Frequently, patients will also choose to have chin augmentation to improve their facial profile . Chin augmentation can be done in many ways which include fat injections, or an implant. This is a wonderful procedure for those desiring an improved neck contour without having a traditional facelift. It is ideally suited for people with a double chin and sagging skin in the rest of the lower face. The patient will usually need a week for recovery.

This is a great operation. However, in patients with excessively loose skin and jowling, a facelift may also be required and may easily be combined.

has been a popular and successful type of facelift that has been franchised nationally and has been in business until very recently. Quicklift and Lifestyle Lift, in many ways are very similar minimally invasive facelift procedures, however, there are some technical differences between the two. If you have ever considered having the Lifestyle Lift procedure, then the best alternative is the Quicklift.

Chin and Cheek Enhancement

Cosmetic chin surgery is the technique of reshaping your chin or cheeks to achieve the desired esthetic result. This is a volume replacement surgery.

The skin over the face is similar to a drape. The shape of the face is determined by the underlying skeletal and soft tissue framework. In some individuals, this framework is not as pronounced as in other individuals and they may appear to have a flattened face or small, recessed chin. We are able to add facial implants to the facial skeleton to accentuate the areas of the cheek bone or chin. By performing these skeletal augmentations, the doctor is able to re–drape and tighten the skin of the face. This provides a more healthy and youthful appearance without the need for a more extensive skeletal lift procedure.

How are chin or cheek implants done?

Many people have a chin that is just too small for their face or a flat cheek bone. When one has a lack of chin projection, the face is weakened. This can also make the nose look longer than it really is. For this reason, many patients will seek surgery to improve the appearance of the chin. A small incision is made either underneath the chin or inside the mouth. A sterile implant, similar to the consistency of a natural chin, is placed in front of the bone to increase the projection of the chin. The implant is secured and the incision is sutured and closed. Chin augmentation is also commonly combined with the suturing of the muscles of the neck (platysmoplasty) and liposuction from under the chin and from the neck.

Similarly, cheeks can also be augmented with synthetic implants to increase the projection or to fill in the bone deficit. Cheek implants are placed through a small incision in the mouth with no visible scars. Immediate results are evident. The operation can also greatly enhance the results of a face lift.

How Will I Look After?

Some swelling and bruising can be expected and usually subsides within the 7-10 days. Mild discomfort can easily be controlled with medications prescribed by your surgeon, in most cases. After healing, the skin drapes smoothly over the implants. The implants themselves conform to the bone and usually are undetectable. The added projection of the chin results in significant improvement which is especially apparent in profile.

Facial cosmetic surgery is one of the most challenging aspects of cosmetic surgery. Everyday in life everyone sees your face, and it is the face that gives away the aging changes! Most women spend a lot of time making up the face and look at it numerous times a day in the mirror. Face can not be hidden unlike other parts of the body.

There are various factors that contribute to facial aging changes:

  • Gravity: Over the years, the ligaments that holds the skin to the structures underneath become lax and yield to gravity allowing the tissues to sag. Face lifts surgery of any type can attempt to reverse gravitational changes of aging only by ‘lifting’ the skin and structures underneath to the original position as best as possible.
  • Volume loss: Aging process also thins the fat, the muscles and even the bony tissues underneath. This can be reversed to a great extent by procedures such as cheek and chin implants, fat transfer, various types of fillers (Restylane®, Juvedrem®, Radiesse®, etc.,)
  • Skin Changes: As we age, the skin is exposed and suffers from all the assaults such as Gravity, Solar radiation, Tanning, Acne, and Chemicals. Many patients who have had cosmetic face surgery are not satisfied with the end result. Most often it turns out to be because of poor skin care. Damaged skin does not enhance a good facelift surgical procedure. It is essential that total skin care regime must be followed in conjunction with face surgery, that may include chemical and laser peels and long term at home maintenance with Obagi Skin Care.

This causes the skin to lose it’s natural sheen, elasticity and starts wrinkling. Smoking and tanning aggravates all these changes greatly.
As you can see, Face Lift surgery can only attempt to reverse the Gravitational Changes. Obviously most people are likely to need more than a face lift to get optimum results, Facelift is designed to restore a more youthful appearance by removing major wrinkles and excessively sagging skin. It involves tightening of the facial and neck muscles as well as tightening of skin over the muscles and tissues.
The skin begins to wrinkle and sag as a result of age, sun exposure and genetics. Children and young adults have smooth, round faces due to evenly distributed fatty tissues in facial contours. Over time, the skin sags and folds on the chin, jaw line and neck, and becomes prominent. Not only does a facelift improve facial appearance, but it also has a dramatic effect on the neck, enhancing its contour and profile. A facelift can make a patient look 5 to 10 years younger!

A facelift may be performed in conjunction with Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), forehead lift, chin or cheek augmentation, liposuction, and other facial procedures or skin rejuvenation procedures to create an overall rejuvenation of the face. Dramatic as the end results are, this is not a simple procedure. It requires a week to 10 days of recovery even though many patients are able to go shopping in just a couple of days!

We will discuss with you how your face can look and what you can expect from surgery. Before and After photographs will reveal what the surgery can accomplish.

Our objective is to create a natural appearance that is pleasing to you.
