NECK LIFT SURGERY | PROCEDURES

THE NECK LIFT PROCEDURE

Laxity in the skin of the neck, under the chin, commonly known as “Turkey Neck”. This condition is sometimes genetic, but primarily due to the aging process. Gravity plays a big part in the aging process, in all areas of the body. In addition to skin laxity, a need for Neck Lift Surgery may also be muscular.

Connected to the skin, is two broad muscles that cover most of the anterior neck. The Platysma muscle begins under the chin, drapes from under the ears, and connect around the second rib bone. The pair connect along the center of the anterior neck, and when a separation occurs, two bands form on the neck. Finally, another contributing factor for the need for Neck Lift Surgery is fat.

Excess fat builds up under the chin either due to genetics or age and can be an issue for people of all ages. Liposuction and other cosmetic procedures may be sufficient to correct this issue, however, if the skin has been stretched too much, it is necessary to remove the excess by undergoing Neck Lift Surgery.

The incision line that is used to remove the excess skin during a Neck Lift Surgery is the same incision line Dr. Jay uses for the Face Lift Surgery. Because of this, Dr. Jay usually recommends undergoing the two procedures together, especially if saggy jowls or cheek atrophy is of concern as well. While Dr. Jay is typically conservative in his surgical approach, through his experience he has learned that other factors must be addressed to ultimately achieve the results a patient is seeking.

Neck Lift Procedure Information

Facial cosmetic surgery is one of the most challenging aspects of cosmetic surgery. Everyday in life everyone sees your face, and it is the face that gives away the aging changes! Most women spend a lot of time making up the face and look at it numerous times a day in the mirror. Face can not be hidden unlike other parts of the body.

La Belle is no longer accepting new patient consultations, as Dr. Jay has announced his retirement from Cosmetic Surgery. La Belle will be open for current patient's follow-ups until the end of September 2022. Please call the office before this date to be scheduled.
